Remnant
A persistent node for AI sessions on your own Macs. The agents disappear; the work survives them — readable, addressable, and still there tomorrow.
What it is
You run several AI sessions. They work in parallel, they finish, and everything they learned dies with them. Remnant keeps that from happening: each thread of work becomes an address that outlives the session that opened it, and the facts settle somewhere they can be found again. A session closing is no longer a loss.
Three promises you can check yourself
- No cloud. Traffic goes radio-to-radio or across your LAN, using Apple's public infrastructure (Bonjour, Network.framework, Wi-Fi P2P). No server of ours, no Apple server, no account. Open a network monitor and see for yourself.
- It works with no shared network at all. That was the case that started the project: two Macs a metre apart, SSH dead, and AirDrop was the only thing that still worked.
- AI sessions hand over the work, not just the files. Not only what was produced, but why — the reasoning, the open questions, what was already ruled out.
Why two heads, and not one better session
The bench tests; someone else's inference is what gets you to build the right bench. You need two heads, with two different methods, on the same fact — and that is why this system exists: not to distribute the work, but so that no conclusion is left without anyone to contradict it.
A single agent that concludes on a green test has no way to know it is wrong — that is not a limit of the model, it is a limit of a configuration with one head. Remnant is built so that a second head, with a different method, sits on the same fact by default.
Both ways a check can lie, we have seen them — not in theory, in one afternoon of our own work (22 August 2026):
- A false green — a test that travelled over the channel that already worked, a check that could not say no. Found by the coordinator by inference, while the other head had a green and no reason to re-run it.
- A false red — “the new code is broken”, a role held by a fake session. Found ten minutes later, by re-running the test on the bench, and believing it for a minute.
Neither head would have found both.

If you stop renewing, nothing switches off: your copy keeps working at the last version it received, for as long as you like. The licence is checked on your own Mac, offline — there is no check-in and no way for us to disable it remotely.
Requirements
macOS on Apple silicon. Remnant runs on one Mac on its own; it earns its keep on two or more.
What we have not proved yet. Remnant has not been installed on a factory-new Mac: every installation we have tested ran on Macs where the environment already existed — permissions already granted, identity already in place, local network already used. A machine set up from scratch is the one case we have not run, so the first launch may ask you for steps we have not measured, the permission prompts in particular. We would rather say it here than promise something we have not checked. If a step stops you, write to us: it is the case we want to hear about first.

The trial needs no account: download, run, and decide within fourteen days. Buying is a one-off payment; you get a licence file by email and keep it.
